JELENA VALKOVIĆ

Jelena Valković graduated in the class of prof. Pierre Yves – Artaud. During her studies she had many solo concerts, and notable performances in various chamber ensembles. Since 2005 she has been teaching and working as a flute teacher at the Zlatko Grgošević Music School in Sesvete. She is dedicated to her work and achieves excellent results working with her students. In 2016, she was promoted to the title of Mentor, and from 2022 to the title Advisor.

During 18 years of working with her students, she has won more than 70 awards in competitions, many of them first places, and 18 Laureate titles or category winners. In her work she uses the knowledge of playing the piano, and with the students she achieves the totality of performing music in each lesson. Since 2019, she has been the head of the Inter-County Expert Councils, the Agency for Education in the Republic of Croatia, and a member of the Executive Board of the Croatian Flutist Society. Through her work as a leader of teacher education, and membership in the association, she participated in or organized many events for flutists. The International Flute Aurea Competition 2021, the First Croatian Flutist Meeting 2021, seminars and lectures, collaborations with eminent professors such as Phillipe Bernold, Jan Ostry, Ian Clarke, Birgit Ramsl – Gall, Andras Adorjan, Carlo Jans, Rachel Brown, Wally were highlighted. Hase, Mario Caroli, Matej Zupan, Matjaž Debeljak, Marko Zupan, Ana Domančić, Aleksandar Burkert, Renata Penezić, Marina Novak, Karolina Šantl Zupan, Marijana Josipović Mirković and many others. Through her professional work, she was engaged in choir singing (Choir “Ina”, PHPD “Zora” Parish Choir of the Good Shepherd, Brstje), folklore singing (Klapa Gajeta, KUD Staro Brestje), work with children’s choirs (Children’s choir Mali Sesvećani, Childrens & teen choir Allegro), and as beginner solfeggio teacher.

In her work, she researches the ways and methods of children’s learning, and publishes educational materials for gifted students, as well as those with learning difficulties. She fulfilled her role as a jury member at the competitions for young flutists “Mladi Padovec” in Novi Marof, Croatia, “Davorin Jenko” and “Miodrag Azanjac” in Belgrade, Serbia. She actively plays in various chamber ensembles at Music school Zlatko Grgošević, and as a soloist in many school projects. She is a proud mother of three children!
