Massimiliano Ferrati
Massimiliano Ferrati is one of the most impressive Italian musicians of his generation, celebrated for his extraordinary musicality, technical strength, and charismatic performances. He is the Grand Prix winner of the “Rina Sala Gallo International Piano Competition” in Monza and Bronze Medalist at the “Arthur Rubinstein Piano Master Competition” in Tel Aviv. He has also won prizes at the UNISA International Piano Competition in Pretoria (special prize for the best performance of a Russian work: Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition), Esther Honens International Piano Competition in Calgary, Dublin International Piano Competition, Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition in Bolzano, and Alessandro Casagrande International Piano Competition in Terni.
Ferrati has performed recitals on five continents, appearing at major seasons and prestigious festivals across Europe, the Americas, Asia, Africa, and Australia. He has performed as a soloist with orchestras including the Israel Philharmonic, Calgary Philharmonic, Gli Archi della Scala di Milano, Moscow Symphony, and Roma Sinfonietta, collaborating with renowned conductors such as Mario Brunello, Mendi Rodan, and Anton Nanut. In chamber music, he has worked with ensembles including the St. Lawrence String Quartet, Aviv String Quartet, and Quartetto del Teatro San Carlo di Napoli, as well as soloists such as David Garrett, Sergey Ostrovsky, Alessandro Carbonare, and Fabio Paggioro.
His performances have been recorded and broadcast by TVP (Poland), CBC Radio & Television (Canada), RTÉ (Ireland), Bayerischer Rundfunk (Munich), Radio Allegro (Johannesburg), Israel Radio Voice of Music, BBC Radio, RAI, Radio Ljubljana, Radio Classica, Radio Vaticana, and Radio Nacional Clasica Argentina. Ferrati has recorded for RS, Velut Luna (Mozart Piano Sonatas), and Brilliant Classics (Respighi Violin Sonatas and Martucci Complete Music for Cello and Piano). Between 2025 and 2026, three more CDs featuring Prokofiev Piano Music and Violin & Piano Sonatas will be released by Brilliant Classics in collaboration with the G.A. Fano Piano Quintet.
He graduated with highest honors from the “A. Buzzolla” Conservatory in Adria under the guidance of Mila Zamparo and continued his studies with Kostantin Bogino, Paul Badura-Skoda (at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena) and Sergio Perticaroli (at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and the “Santa Cecilia” Academy in Rome). For chamber music, he studied with Trio di Trieste (De Rosa, Zanettovich, Baldovino) in Duino.
Ferrati regularly gives masterclasses at prestigious institutions and festivals, including IKIF in New York, the P.I. Tchaikovsky National Academy in Kiev, Accademia Musicale Pescarese, Cittadella International Music Festival & Masterclass, Villa Chiericati Showa Foundation University in Tokyo, Tbilisi Piano Fest (Georgia), Wuyishan International Piano Festival (China), and ANAM Australian National Academy of Music. He has also served on juries for numerous competitions, including Alessandro Casagrande in Terni, Luciamo Luciani in Cosenza, Sidney selections in Rome, MacKenzie Scholarship Award in New York, and Rina Sala Gallo International Piano Competition in Monza.
He is currently Professor of Piano at the “E.F. Dall’Abaco” Conservatory in Verona and teaches at the International Keyboard Institute & Festival in New York, Berlin International Piano Masterclasses, Primavera Pianistica “Aquiles delle Vigne” in Belgium, and Tel-Hai Piano Master Classes in Israel.
