Giacomo Marcocig
Giacomo Marcocig, CIDIM artist, studied and graduated in Udine under the guidance of maestros Domenico Lazzaroni and Sergio Bernetti. He continued his studies in Manchester at the prestigious Royal Northern College of Music with Steven Mead and David Thornton, earning a Professional Development Course certificate in 2018. Other maestros who have influenced his studies include Thomas Rüedi, Nicholas Childs, James Gourlay, David King, among others.
He has collaborated with the Orchestra of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Haydn Orchestra of Bolzano. He has participated in major national and international festivals, including the Mahler Festival in Milan, the Salzburg Easter Festival, the Bridging Europe Festival in Budapest and Rome, the Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto, the European Brass Band Championships in Oostende, the RNCM Brass Band Festival in Manchester, “Riflessi nel Passato” in Calabria, “Solisti in Sicilia” in Cefalù, and the Music System Italy World Brass Week in Friuli Venezia Giulia.
He has won numerous competitions, including first prize at the “Premio Claudio Abbado” in the “Low Brass” category, first overall prize at the “Grand Prix” in Rijeka, and the Best Euphonium Soloist award at “Brass at the Guild,” among others.
He is also a member of the international euphonium quartet “AGIS Quartet” and the Italian Tuba Quartet. He teaches low brass at various music schools in Friuli Venezia Giulia and regularly conducts masterclasses and performs as a soloist throughout Italy and Europe.
