Alex Pons

Àlex Pons was born in Valencia where he studied professional music. He completed his higher education at the higher conservatories of this city, the Royal Conservatory of Music of Madrid and the Higher Conservatory of Music of Murcia. Completes the master’s degree in music education at the Polytechnic University of Valencia.

He expanded his studies with national professors such as David Alonso, Andrés Gomis and Xelo Giner among others. Also with professors from Europe such as Arno Bornkamp, Vicent David, Claude Delangle, MarieBernadette Charrier and Jean Denis Michat. At the same time, he studied band conducting with teachers Jose Rafael Pascual Vilaplana and Jan Cober.

He has been a member of different chamber music groups. He has collaborated with the Spanish Radio Television Orchestra, and since 2008 with the Barcelona Municipal Band under the baton of, among other conductors, Jose Rafael Pascual Vilaplana, Salvador Brotons, Jan Cober, Bjorn Bus, Felix Hauswirth, Miguel Etchegoncelay and Jan Cover.

Furthermore, he has recorded music by composers such as Salvador Brotons, Pedro Iturralde, Joan Lamote de Grignon, Ricard Lamote de Grignon, Xavier Montsalvatge, Joan Albert Amargós and Eduard Toldrà among other composers for different record labels such as Naxos.
