More than just oboe playing, Sanja is vivid performer, educator and content creator who transfers her life inspiration and experience into the stories of music. Beautiful sound, charisma on stage and sensual musicality are highly praised by the worldwide audiences.
\n\u201eSanja Romi\u0107 is musically very profound and has beautiful tone which transcends the whole orchestra and inspires her colleagues\u201c – said legendary Zubin Mehta. Upon his invitation Sanja joined Maestro\u2019s three final summer tours in 2019 with Israel Philharmonic Orchestra as guest principal oboe.
\nSince 2022, Sanja is artist of the instrument maker Buffet Crampon, playing oboe model \u201eL\u00e9gende\u201d. With their support, on March 8, 2024, she gave world premiere of Nimrod Borenstein\u2019s new Oboe Concerto \u201cL\u00e9gende\u201d written for her. She has dedicated premiere to the 100th Anniversary of the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra.
\nSanja has been solo oboe of the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra between 2011- 2024. Since 2016 she is associate professor for orchestral studies for woodwind instruments at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad.
\nSince 2024 she holds position of the oboe professor at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad.
\nHighly active as soloist, she performed with Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra, Al Bustan Festival Orchestra, Macedonia Philharmonic Orchestra, Salzburg Kammerphilharmone, Vojvodina Symphony Orchestra, Ensemble Metamorphosis, Zagreb Soloists, Slovene Army Band, Erd\u00f6dy Chamber Orchestra from Hungary, traditional tamboura orchestra from Slovenia..
\nLed by the turbulent political situation and experience while growing up as an artist in Balkans, in 2017 she shaped programming for her first CD. \u201eMelodies of Nations\u201c promotes idea of Universal language of Music that brings people and less known music for oboe and piano together. Recorded with Irish pianist Fionnuala Moynihan, it was released in 2017 under London label \u201eHedone\u201c and Serbian \u201eMetropolis Music\u201c. In 2021 she released two neoclassical singles with Croatian composer and pianist Antonija Pacek, for Australian label Yellow Rose Records.
\nEnjoying chamber music she is active within NSChamber Ensemble established within NOMUS Festival, which gathers some of the finest Serbian musicians who collaborate in different formations, RomAn duo with Serbian guitarist Zoran Ani\u0107, Ventus quintet Salzburg, harp duo..
\nActive in pedagogical field, she held oboe masterclasses in Serbia, Ireland, Slovenia, Hungary, Lebanon, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Her first online masterclass for oboists, \u201eBackToBasics\u201c appeared in June 2023. Interested in movement and body mechanics, she advocates ease of playing focusing on body- mind synergy and health care for musicians that is represented within her teaching concept \u201ePlaying & Living with Ease\u201c. Podcast of the same name embraces all of her teaching methods with professional coaching practice that she does achieving amazing results with her students.
\nWith aim to promote oboe and reestablish oboe school at Balkans, in 2018 she initiated Oboe fest in Belgrade with her colleagues.
\nPassion and huge experience of orchestral playing she is sharing as orchestra mentor and coach for wind instruments at Orchestra Academy of Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra, Al Bustan Festival Youth Orchestra in Lebanon, West Balkan Youth Orchestra, FAME\u2019S- European Orchestral Performing Institute.
\nAs orchestra musician she was touring the USA, Europe and China under batons of renowned conductors, collaborating with Salzburg Chamber Soloists, Cremerata Baltica, Opera and Ballet Ljubljana, Prague Chamber Orchestra, Holland National Youth Orchestra. Within the \u201eNo Borders Orchestra\u201c project, CD for \u201eDeutsche Grammophon\u201c has been released.
\nAs student of the \u201eLiszt Ferenc Academy of Music\u201c in Budapest she studied with Peter Pongratz and Gabor Dienes, graduating with honours and was awarded by the Soros Foundation Grant. At Mozarteum University in Salzburg she studied with Stefan Schilli and soon after won her first solo oboe position at the Opera and Ballet Orchestra in Ljubljana.
